Bud White in L.A Confidential

.
Next, we look at White purchasing some alcohol and while returning to his car, he sees a woman with a bandaged nose and does not hesitate to offer his assistance. This scene yet again, emphasizes White's tenderness with women and his tendency to jump to their rescue, disregarding any form of obstacles even so when confronted by an ex-colleague. As he pins down the bodyguard, he quickly shifts into a gentle caring cop, asking if the lady is in trouble, yet, underlying, he is ready to enforce his power if necessary. They were both excellent scenes in portraying White's extremities, showcasing stereotypical characteristics of an antihero. .
Another specific trait of an antihero is one who does not back down against authority. In the scene of "Bloody Christmas", White's partner, Stencil was rash in dealing with the Mexicans who were assumed to be the perpetrators of the assault on fellow cops. White was asked to hold Stencil back from doing anything foolish but ends up being involved in the beat-up altogether. The media blew up the matter and the police department needed a scapegoat. However, White refused to testify against his partner at the expense of getting suspended. White is still loyal and faithful to his partner even at the cost of his job regardless if what they did was morally wrong, because he knew that Stencil's intentions were somewhat good, for he only wanted to take revenge for his fellow colleagues. .
White does not care about the moral technicalities behind the actions taken, regardless of the methods used, as long as his goal is achieved. White was later reinstated to work under Dudley to do unofficial police work, beating up members of organized crime. He does not seem to mind the dirty work and does not question, because it falls in line with his cause, which is to clean up and keep organized crime out of the city. To further emphasize on this point, White killed the unarmed black man on the scene where he rescued the Mexican rape victim without blinking twice.
