The Great Creation Debate

Creationism is one of the most debated topics. What makes it so interesting is that everyone has their opinion, but nobody actually knows the truth. Creation is just a part of the story in the Bible, that some people believe in. People can believe in whatever they want, but there will always be others to counter one's beliefs with their own. King shows a great perspective through his words and although Momaday tells his side a little differently, I believe they both share a similar view. King answers the question, "If the earth was on the back of a turtle, what was below the turtle? Another turtle. And below that turtle? Another turtle. And below that? Another turtle. So how many turtles are there? No one knows for sure, but it's turtles all the way down," (King The Truth about Stories 1). I believe King is referring the turtles to creation with this explanation. King is saying that creation is never ending and we will never really know where it all began.
Momaday explains the question of creation best in The Indolent Boys with a quote from John Pei stating, "Fear is a disability," (Momaday The Indolent Boys 56). People fear the information that does not have answers; they fear what they do not know. This is why people rely on religion to give them answers on these phenomenon's that cannot be explained nor proven. If people are given a belief system it puts them at ease in their mind. All people want are answers, and that is what religion gives people on the theory of how we were created.
In, "The Moon in Two Windows," Momaday gives a quote from Luther saying, "In some way, I believe, I will always be my father's son," (Momaday The Moon in Two Windows 171). What Momaday is saying is we are a branch off of our parents. Not only do we follow our parents from physical attributes, but we also follow what they believe in. We tend to learn what we know from our parents and that is where children take in their knowledge.
