During this Main Stage production there were many elements that were both very impressive, and then others that may have needed a little bit of work. Some of the best parts of this show unfortunately was shadowed by some of the more unpleasant parts of the show. Although the acting was well done, it was lost by the lack of pronunciation and projection. Many of the lines that were very vital to the show were all lost in translation. Ariane ______ who played the role of Lydia, had one of the most interesting characters to watch. Throughout the show she made some character choices that were interesting, yet some of them were at times questionable, however they were all consistent which made up for it. The main thing that was off about her character was that her age was confusing throughout the entire play. Assuming that her character was supposed to be in her late teens because she was getting married by the end, she made her character have more childlike qualities than was necessary. The main thing that was the most distracting was her mannerisms. One thing she did excessively was kick her feet when she would sit down like a five year old child would do. She would also make this sound in her throat when her character was supposed to get excited. All of these mannerisms were strange considering the age that her character was supposed to be, and were extremely confusing. Another character choice she made that made a little more sense than some of the others was she would skip instead of walk away. She usually did it when she would leave or enter the room. Her character choices seemed justified at some points considering her character was very bubbly and easily excitable. However, considering the character age, there needed to be some choices made that showed she wasn't a child. .
One thing that Ariane tended to do a lot was face away from the audience and say her lines, which in turn made it extremely hard to hear what she was saying.
