Theater Analysis - Pride and Prejudice

Unfortunately the parts that she may have said away from the audience could have been very important. Unfortunately, although she was a huge culprit of this, she was not the only person that did it. Actually, half the cast tended to face away from the audience when they were saying their lines, or they would whisper them. This in turn, made it extremely difficult to follow what was going on in the play. Being able to hear during a play is a huge aspect of a play. So having half of the cast being that quite was not ideal for this situation.
There were times during the play that Ariane would lose her character. It happened mainly when she was having side conversations in the background. It was noticeable that she just completely dropped her "bubbly" character and started acting a lot older than she did when she when she had lines, she also didn't do a lot of the mannerisms that she would usually do as her character. Some of the things she would do was play with her hands a lot in a way that was actually very distracted. She would kind of crumple her fingers in a way and talk with her hands. Another thing she tended to do a lot was play with her skirt, while this action was appropriate at some times it got excessive, and was over played. .
Considering that this was a play based back in the 1800's where women were supposed to be extremely proper and "girly" it was confusing and odd, yet kind of humorous that Ariane would sometimes sit with her legs open the way a boy would, or slouch in her chair, however there were other times that she would sit extremely straight. It was also kind of contradicting that she would sit that way, when her character still acted extremely girly. This, however, was not the only character choice that contradicted the other. Most of the time it was her actions that contradicted her entire character. The main thing that did this was her actions, which made the audience assume that she was a lot younger than her character should have been.
