Canada and Capital Punishment

"The world is a dangerous place to live in; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it" (Albert Einstein). In today's society, it is crucial that we bring back capital punishment as a means of punishing violent criminals. Capital punishment should be made legal once more in Canada because it is just, it is the duty of the government to protect its citizens, and because it will repair social order. The death penalty in Canada was abolished in the year 1976; however the last public execution had taken place in 1962. A bill to restore the death penalty almost passed as law in 1987; however Prime Minister Brian Mulroney had opposed the bill and it has not been brought back up since. It makes the uttermost sense for Canada to bring back capital punishment because it is the best way to ensure that justice is served. The Canadian government should stop wasting the taxpayers' money keeping the vilest of criminals in institutions; dangerous offenders should be sentenced to death. The need for capital punishment is vital in our society, it is in the best interest of the majority of the population and it supports positive law. .
"How many people are we to allow to be murdered while waiting for the repentance of the wrongdoer?" (Thomas Aquinas). Capital punishment serves a moral purpose for the good of the common people; it is what's just. If you intend to murder someone, you know that the decision you're making is immoral, therefore you should be willing to pay the consequence. The only punishment for murder should be death upon whoever did the deed. In order for true justice to be served, we must bring back the death penalty. If a would-be offender were to know that they would be killed for committing a murder, don't you think that they might think twice about committing the crime? This will make it more likely for people to follow the law, if they know that they too might be sentenced to death.
