History of the Marine Corps

What is the most dangerous weapon in the world? Some may start naming these high tech assault rifles. The real answer to the question is, a Marine and his rifle. November 10, 1775 was the day that the Continental Congress made the world a better place by establishing the United States Marine Corp. Back then, they weren't called the Marine Corps just yet, they started off as the Continental Marines. They were the first fighting force of the American Colonies in the era of the American Revolutionary War. While there was a gap between the breaking up of the Continental Marines in 1783, the USMC still celebrates its birthday on November 10, 1775. Through these past 239 hard fought years, the Corps had evolved tremendously. Different Tactical skills and weaponry have changed, but the objective always stood the same. That task is to kill. .
The Marines are notorious for bragging and flaunting themselves as the best in the military business. They can in fact do so because they are the most strategically, tactically, and methodically advanced and developed among all the military branches. They can adapt to any situation whether it may be through land, air, or water. In an article by the U.S Navy, Tactics is described as "the are art and science of winning engagements and battles. It includes the use of firepower and maneuver, the integration of different arms and the immediate exploitation of success to defeat the enemy." (Chapter 1, Pg. 3).
This is why boot camp is very crucial and important. It is the basic fundamentals of becoming a United States Marine. There is a reason why the Marine boot camps are the longest out of all the branches. A civilian cannot learn their way around a rifle as well as making critical life or death decisions in a few weeks. It takes no longer and no less than 3 months for a civilian to turn into a tactical and disciplined killing machine. Discipline is a key part of being a Marine.
