Essay - Saint Louis's Presidential Scholarship

Many of my fellow competing applicants of the Presidential Scholarship honor outstanding accomplishments within their academics as well as extracurricular activities, earning them presidential chairs. Although I commend them for their achievements through their hard work and consistency, I am proud to say that my hard work and inconsistency illustrates the blossoming human being I am becoming and know will continue on through my years at Saint Louis University.
My inconsistent characteristics sprouted when I was a junior in high school; however, my life began on a steady track. Like most children, my parents pushed me in sports at a young age in hopes to spark some interests, get exercise, and make friends. The older I got, the more narrowed my variety of activities became; I believed that if I specified and mastered one, my success rate would be much higher. Therefore, I pushed for the best in my favorite sport, volleyball. Through my dedication in competition, I was brought up to be goal driven, have confidence and respect in not only myself, but my coach and teammates, to push when the going gets tough, and although cliched, they're qualities that will stick with me through every obstacle I endure. With my intended educational and career path in physical therapy, one of the most popular majors at Saint Louis, these qualities will push me through my class rigor and sleepless nights of studying in order to keep my team, team of classmates and professors, proud. Competitively ranked number 25 of the 50 top universities to offer physical therapy, I know that Saint Louis is not only a great fit for me, but my competitive drive, is a great fit for it.
Unfortunately, I didn't make my high school's volleyball team, bringing my career to an end; although, this brought me to a sparkling new start to my life – my inconsistent life. As a junior in high school, many of my fellow classmates had already established their interests considering their two years of extracurricular activities prior to this school year.
