There are many factors to consider when thinking about the functionality of any organization; but the main asset is the people. Companies that value and promote healthy living are on the right path when it comes to attracting and retaining skilled and professional workers. They are demonstrating a level of social responsibility by building a reputation that supports their workers. A wellness center is a worksite facility for wellness, research and education ("Is Usage of a Wellness", 2013). It offers programs and services that will help employees learn and practice healthy living. The purpose of this report is to summarize available research to recommend wellness programs suitable for the employees of Company ABC.
Rationale for the Research.
Work-related stress is a growing problem around the world that affects not only the health and well-being of employees, but also the productivity of organizations. It is one of the most common compensated illnesses in a workplace. High levels of stress will affect the company because it is associated with poor work performance, higher health care costs, and poor quality of life. According to a survey, stress accumulated over a 1-year period can lead to mental health problems, for instance: depression, anxiety, and somatization ("stress Level, Health Behaviors" 2011). With this information, the company can get ahead and offer alternative ways for employees to handle stress. It has been proven that the simplest things such as: a walking club, a nutrition plan, or exercising classes can improve someone's quality of life. Healthy employees create a more energetic environment, which increases productivity, lowers absentees, and lowers medical costs. By providing a wellness center on site, employees will have the chance to minimize the risk of developing a health issue, while increasing self-confidence and improving job performance.
