The Romanov Dynasty


He and his mother Martha Romanovna were found at Ipateev Manastery at Kostroma. For six hours, representatives of Assembly pleaded them to get the royal throne, and to start new Tsar's dynasty. Finally, after threat that, if he continued to refuse the throne, God would hold him responsible for the final destruction of the Tsardom, Michael promised to go to Moscow. With his acceptance of the throne, "the Time of Troubles," ended, new era of ruling of the Romanov dynasty began and was endures for three hundred years.
             The first goal that Michael wanted to achieve is finishing conflict with Sweden and Poland who occupied nearly half the tsardom. In 1617, was signed the definitive treaty with Sweden, Russia conceded Sweden Baltic sea-board and got back Great Novgorod. Meanwhile, Russian Tsardom and his greatest enemy the Kingdom of Poland were still in open war. Polish troops were under the command of Wladislaus Vasa, prince of Poland who rushed to the Moscow's throne. On October, 1618, Poles made a night assault upon Moscow which was repulsed with heavy loss to the Poles. Finally, was concluded the truce of Deulino, the truce of peace for fourteen and half years, which left the Poland with territories that strategically benefit to the Poles but the important result for Russian Tsardom was an exchange of prisoners included Tsar's father Philaret. Ten days after arriving Philaret to Moscow, he submitted to be enthroned as Patriarch by Theophanes, Patriarch of Jerusalem, and the prelates of the Russian Church. He and Michael ruled the Tsardom together till his death in 1633.
             While the ruling, Philaret and Michael, made some reforms to strengthen the Muscovy Tsardom. Philaret toke care to replenish the treasures by means of a more equable system of asserting and collecting the taxes. Before, tax collectors had exempted those who were rich enough to bribe them and poor people suffered by overtaxing.
