The three main reasons why wars existed throughout history are wealth, resources, and religion. People today wish to cease wars due to the significant amount of casualties that they result in. Religious warfare, amongst those three, should be regarded as the most problematic and useless reason for war. Not only has religion caused conflicts, but religion also affects people's freedom. The type of freedom that religion prevents the most is the freedom of having gay marriage. Religion also serves no true purpose towards our society, positive purposes, at least. Though the claim that "religion shouldn't exist" is already a strong one to talk about, especially in today's society, it is a harsh, yet necessary topic to discuss. Religion shouldn't exist due to its many negative effects on society.
Religious warfare is a type of warfare that people fights in due to many issues and conflicting thoughts on religion. For instance, sometimes people fight due to the different views that each religion has on a certain belief. The most famous ones out there would be the crusades, the French wars on religion, and the war on terror. Religion actually "encourages" warfare and violence in many ways, more than expected from the average person. In the Qu'ran, the Islamic old testament, there is a line that is famous for encouraging violence, it reads "And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out.and fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah and worship is for Allah alone." This type of warfare that Muslims fight under the name of their god is called "jihad," or holy warfare. To put this in simpler form, the Qu'ran alone allows Muslims to kill under god's name. This part of the Qu'ran is largely viewed as one of the main causes of why the global war on terrorism began in the Middle East, ever since Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda rose to power.
