These people can then have social workers to keep up with them and their conditions just like they do for children that are in foster homes or group homes.
Over the course of this semester, I plan to research the growth of homelessness in society and ways to stop it because this is an ongoing issue that gets addressed then suddenly goes unnoticed by the public because they think they have done enough for those that are homeless already which is not a good excuse. In many cases, this issue is rarely discussed which causes less individuals to focus on it because they seem to view this as an issue that does not require one's attention or time. In today's society, many people only focus on issues that are broadcasted in the news for that particular day or week. Anything that isn't broadcasted regularly tends to fall into the shadows and people end up forgetting about the whole situation. I can attest to this statement because I tend to fall in that category with the individuals that only pay attention to popular, mainstream issues that are discussed at that particular time then forget about the subject as the talk about it eventually subsides. I also chose to conduct a semester long research project on this issue because of the personal relation ties I have with homelessness within my family. Witnessing this issue firsthand has allowed me to see how this issue isn't as easy and simple to deal with as people may think it is. I know for a fact that some homeless individuals encountered a significant event in their life which eventually led them astray and disconnected from society. When I see a homeless person begging for money or food, I always tend to feel compassion and sympathy toward them because I feel bad knowing that I have what they want and need. I don't think anyone deserves to live on the street or live in conditions where they don't know when they will have their next meal especially during the winter time.
