Legalizing Recreational Marijuana


            One of the biggest arguments among Americans today is whether or not recreational marijuana should be legalized. Many Americans fail to see the good in marijuana because of all the false acquisitions made in the past. Legalizing recreational marijuana would bring forth a variety of benefits then harm when consuming it. What people forget to talk about are some of the benefits that come along with marijuana. There are many people in our society that cannot afford to go to the doctor for anything that isn't immediate. Marijuana is often used in treating pain management and nausea. There are people in our society that suffer from those two symptoms that marijuana is known to help. If recreational marijuana was legalized, these people could go to the nearest convenient store and purchase marijuana rather than breaking the bank and going to the doctor.              Along with treating pain and nausea, marijuana is also very useful when treating mental disorders. There are more than you can imagine suffering from some sort of mental illness and have failed to continue treatment and therapies because of insignificant amount of funds. Legalizing recreational marijuana would make treatment affordable. Americans suffering from insomnia, depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety get relief from consuming marijuana.              There is a large misunderstanding that concludes marijuana to be highly addictive. This is not only incorrect, but the statistic is showing a significantly low number of people developing a dependence to the substance. Studies are showing that only 9% of Americans that try marijuana develop a dependence.
