The Shaping of America

Noble Cunningham's book mentioned two of the most important people who influenced politics and government in America after the independence. Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton were occupying important and sensitive position during that time in the American government. Thomas Jefferson, a man born on April, 1743 in a rich family that afford him an excellent education in Virginia (3). However, Alexander Hamilton was born in an uneducated poor family in West Indies on January 11, 1755 (3). Each one of these two politicians had conflict views on issues concerning government that were generated from the environment they lived in. As a result, each of them shaped a political party and was the head of that party. Jefferson was the head of the Democratic-Republicans, who aimed to increase people's task in the government while Hamilton represented the Federalists, who wanted to promote a strong central government to lead the country forward. Both of these political parties aimed to build a great future for their culture. Through different paths to fame, diverging courses, poles apart on banks and factories, conflict in Washington's Cabinet, disagreement on foreign affairs, political competitors, and Hamilton and President Jefferson topics, the conflict between the two parties was clearly shown.
First of all, Federalists intended to strengthen American's young nations through a strong central government. Hamilton believed that educated rich people who were involved in the government could run everything efficiently to build a bright future for the new generations, and he expressed his doubts about the capacity of people for self-government. Hamilton, as the Secretary of Treasury also felt that the educated people will encourage the economic enterprise too. The national bank was also one of Hamilton's thoughts to help the American people to recover from the Revolutionary war, adjust their currency, and help to control the American economy.
