Symbolism in The Little Prince


7 As the view of the little prince is as different as heaven and hell with the view of the adult in the earth, he always scoff at the adult. The little prince brought the curiosity and sincerity in his heart to find the meaning of life, like a child explore this world. Most of us were overwhelmed with longing for those innocent days of early childhood.
             Before the little prince interacted with the aviator, he decided to visit six small planets which nearby earth. Actually, the adults in the six planets revealed the attitude of most of the adults. First at all, he visited planet which there was a king lived lonely at there, as if he was the supreme ruler of the vast empire. He very cared about that others either respected him or not. He did not allow anyone obeyed his rules, as he was a typical autocratic king. However, he only had superficial authority, and he enjoyed the authority he had, that he can demand anyone did everything he wished.8 It seemed like the king's authority was very important, but from the view of the little prince, it was meaningless. In fact, adults always abuse their authority to obtain what they want, especially politicians. It is important to think of the king in relation to the period in which this novel was written. The author wrote this book when he was an exile in the United States after the fall of France in World War II. Dictators like Hitler and Mussolini were gaining power, and it appeared as if the Allies were powerless against their more brutal methods. .
             The second planet was inhabited by a conceited man. He signified who indulged in self-admiration. Once anyone clapped for him, he would take off his hat and bowed to his or her. The conceited man wanted the little prince admitted that he was the most handsome, the most clever and the richest man in the world, but sarcastically he was the only one in the planet. Therefore, even if the little prince admired him, he would also felt satisfied.
