In other words pornography should be censored because of the fact that people have their own definition and not an exact one. .
People have different opinion on everything, whether if pornography should be censored or if it is beneficial. Pornography is used for many reasons like for masturbation, release their stress or simply for pleasure, it can help their relationship, or whatever reason they have for using porn. Susan Brownmiller states "pornography represents hatred of women, that pornography's intent is to humiliate, degrade, and dehumanize the female body for the purpose to erotic stimulation and pleasure"(62). So what Brownmiller is saying that pornography is used for the wrong reasons and therefore should be censored to stop hatred towards women? Brownmiller is wrong because not all pornography is to bring women down and it's not just for pleasure. Another example contradicts what Brownmiller says, "pornography, for example, doesn't degrade women; women are degraded by our culture, and certain forms of pornography reflect that."(McWilliams). McWilliams says that pornography is not the problem of bringing women down in fact is society who dictates what is best for them. Our own culture is the one responsible for humiliating women and pornography has nothing to do. Brownmiller is wrong because what brings women down, in fact society as a whole that judges based on what they think is right or wrong. McWilliams quote is right and therefore society should be censor instead of pornography.
Society is the main problem and pornography reflects on that. Jacoby states "they want to use the power of the state to accomplish what they have been unable to achieve in the marketplace of ideas and images."(49). Jacoby is saying that people want the state to solve the problems they have at home. In other words, they want the government to do their parenting jobs for them and solve all their solutions.
