Business, Ethics and Morals

Are you a leader or a follower? No matter what anyone does in life there is always a leader or some form of leadership involved. According to the author, Andrew J. Dubrin, leadership can be defined as the ability to inspire confidence and support among the people who are needed to achieve organizational goals (Dubrin 2). In leadership there are several traits that define good leadership, traits such as general personality traits or task-related personality traits and cognitive factors of leadership. Along with good leadership there have to be morals and things have to be completed ethically. .
Can really define ethics? According to Webster dictionary ethics can be defined as "a system of moral principles" (Webster dictionary). Also according to Webster dictionary moral can be defined as "of, pertaining to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong; ethical" (Webster dictionary). Knowing these two definitions the two terms can be simply mean doing the right thing with good intentions. Both ethics and morals are using when evaluating any type of business and different situations that can occur within a business. .
             CASE 1.
In this case there are several perceptions that could be taken from this situation and looked at as unethical across the board. First there is abiding by the law. In this situation there are no physical laws being broken. If looking into the laws for this business there could be some things broken but overall legally they are safe. Next there is telling the truth. This is one that is hard to determine. From the complaint that was made the shirt was not telling the truth. However, from the spokesperson view point the shirt was telling the truth based off the person wearing. This is also not safe from a business stand point because anyone of any background could purchase this shirt. The buyer could be Canadian, Italian, and Mexican or from any other background so statement would not apply to them.
