Business Communications in Moneyball

After a slightly disappointing season for Billy, he is offered the general manager position for the Boston Red Sox, which would have made him the highest paid general manager in baseball history. He thinks about what is most important to him and decides to turn down the Red Sox offer to return to Oakland. .
It was overall an excellent movie. While Billy's system didn't exactly take them to the World Series, it did however produce a quality-caliber playoff team for half the price. It does however support the theory that money plays a huge factor when it comes to building championship teams. The New York Yankees have won the most World Series, because they're the best and they're the richest. There is a lot you can learn from organizations and business communication in the movie, and I would recommend the film to anyone who likes baseball. .
There were many business communication elements that related to the movie. The first element, the CCCD model, is used in everyday communication, and it showed how selecting a communication strategy was very important for achieving objectives. Second, brutal messages can create conflict and must be communication effectively and quickly. Third, confirming and disconfirming are shown to have an effect on employees. Fourth, stereotypes are involved in scouting prospects and analyzing a players worth. The fifth element, power, has many different forms in the movie showing the influence of the hierarchy of command. Sixth, turf battles occur as organizational members disagree about the teams goals. The last element, scientific management, is when manager run their companies as "effective machines" and aim for results, not employee satisfaction.
The CCCD model is the basis for effective communication in any business. The CCCD process includes choosing a communication strategy, creating your message, coordinating the communication event, and delivering the message.
