Morality and Prostitution

For example the Economist newspaper depicted an article which showed few females in Sweden got engaged into prostitution because they could not find a more easy and suitable job with such high pay to cater for their needs and their children physiological and educational needs. The article further depicted that most of these women were single mothers (2015).
Henceforth, one of the reasons why prostitution is morally correct, because it acts as a source of income and employment to the prostitutes. Furthermore, another argument against the view that prostitution is morally wrong can be that prostitution is a victimless crime. Lars O Ericsson an associate professor of Philosophy argued that:.
"If two adults voluntarily consent to an economic arrangement concerning sexual activity and this activity takes place in private, it seems plainly wrong to maintain that there is something intrinsically wrong with it" (Phalogma 1994).
This meant an adult with consent can engage in any type of economic transactions and that includes even getting paid to have sex. Prostitution would not be degrading to either party having sexual intercourse if it is entered freely into. Sex trade can also result in profitability of women as it is a work that allows creative expression of sexuality which are thoroughly enjoyed by many women. Prostitution can also allow people living in today's society for exploration of sexual desires in ways which currently they cannot because of social norms of heterosexuality and monogamous relationships (Farley 2012). A classic example for the above argument is France as prostitution is legal in the country. The French government and its citizens argue that if both parties engage into sexual activities by their own will and consent prostitution cannot be considered immoral. The French laws further state that human beings should have the authority and consent on how to manage their own body (Frenchlaw 2015).
