Walter White and Breaking Bad

How did each man handle their prosperity and wealth? Consider this quote about John D. Rockefeller, "His son John D. Rockefeller was often called the most ruthless American and was the world's first billionaire."(Dubay) Here is a quote from Cornelius Vanderbilt. "What do I care about the law? Ain't I got the power?"(Norman Markowitz) As these three industrial giants rose to the top of their industries from their humble beginnings, we see the same type of change we saw in Walter White. Here is a conversation from "Breaking Bad" between Walter White and one of his competitors to illustrate the point.
Declan: "Who the hell are you?".
Walter White: "You know. You all know exactly who I am. Say my name.".
Declan: "Do what? I don't. I don't have a damn clue who the hell you are.".
Walter White: "Yeah, you do. I'm the cook. I'm the man who killed Gus Fring.".
             Declan: Bullshit. "Cartel got Fring.".
             Walter White: "Are you sure?".
Walter White: "That's right. Now, say my name.".
Declan: [quietly] "Heisenberg." ("Say My Name")Breaking Bad.
It is no longer about having the best product or being the most efficient but the driving force is also about control and recognition of what they have accomplished. All three of our business leaders certainly forgot their humble beginnings and used people that were in the same situation they were in earlier in their lives to fuel the growth of their financial empires.
As we look at the life of Walter White, is there a correlation we can make to prominent businessmen and their desire for power and money. What is the underlying theme we see as Walter morphs from episode to episode? It is certainly in the DNA of humans to survive and we see that in Walter. Another aspect of humanity is having our egos stroked and Walter was all about that (his product was the best).
