The second theme concerns a profound mistrust of the federal government, which is believed to be increasingly intrusive and has overstepped its constitutional limits, and is seeking to attack the American citizen's personal liberties and freedoms. The third theme, although not shared by all members of the militia movement, is a fear that the U.S. is itself under threat from the global conspiracy that seeks to institute a "New World Order" on the nation under the sponsorships of the U.N. Indeed, the more definite militia members' concerns might encompass those linked to the environmental issues, jury rights, abortion rights, gay rights, affirmative action, religious issues, educational standards, states' rights, the effects of GATT and NAFTA, immigration policy, and the 'militarization" of the U.S. law enforcement (Mulloy, 2008). .
The militia movement diversity is among its most fascinating features. The militia groups are found to range from the intensely secretive to the extremely open. Moreover, some of these groups are mainly paramilitary in nature, while others are more than the constitutional discussion groups. Apparently, a larger proportion of the members of the militia movement are law-abiding citizens; however, a small but influential number consists of criminals and terrorists. Some members of the militia movement consist of ant-Semites and racists; others receive Latinos, blacks, and other minority groups' members. Whereas some militia members are necessarily survivalist and have taken an initiative to withdraw from the world and its evils, there are still those who have embraced the ICT era and all profits it brings. As a result, classifying this movement turns out to be even more complex when there is the inclusion of the "militia support groups" (Mulloy, 2008, p. 2). Reportedly, the militia support groups include the American Freedom, "The Police Against New Order," and the Outpost of Freedom that supports the formation of the militia movement or offer materials and information to them but is not fully-fledged militias, even though they may evolve into the militias.
