Personal Memoir: A Life-Changing Experience

Not taking note of the road still being wet because it had just rained, I went into the turn going 65 and the rear tires started to spin and it made the rear end of the truck kick out to the right, so I let off the gas and spun the steering wheel to the right but I ended up over correcting and the truck started to run off the road. There really isn't a ditch there it is just a very steep bank and I wasn't able to steer the truck back on the road in time, the way I hit the bank made the whole truck flip completely over landing on my top I slid down the road like that for about fifty yards until finally coming to a stop. The grinding noise the metal made while sliding down the road has to be one of the most terrifying sounds I have ever heard, the smell of the headliner melting from the heat of cab grinding on the road was awful, when I first smelt it I thought that the truck had caught fire. But all I can remember after that is coming to upside down with my left leg somehow wedged between the dash and the road, it took me what felt like hours to get my leg unstuck I ended up having to cut half of my boot off to pull my foot out of it. The cab was so smashed that I barely had enough room to crawl out the back glass and out underneath the bed, and at that moment I had so much adrenaline pumping through me that I was convinced that I could roll the truck back over on its wheels and drive it home but you could have guessed that wasn't going to happen. I do feel that I was very lucky to be up and walking around with only a cut on my hand, after all it was a very fatal accident that I was just involved in.
After the truck was towed back to my house I sat and stared at it for hours, I couldn't get over the fact that I had just ruined my truck. But then I finally started to take off things that I could salvage and sell. I tore the truck completely apart and put it all on craigslist hoping that someone would want some of it since I did not have have full coverage on my insurance so I knew I wouldn't get any money from the insurance company.
