Homosexual Marriages

A bill comes before a local town council that would grant legal status to homosexual marriages. A local representative votes in opposition to the proposal.
The idea of homosexual marriage has been a hot topic for the last couple of years. The number of "out of the closet" homosexuals is on the rise. The idea of marriage between same sex couples has been an idea for many years. People are taking a stand when it comes to same sex marriages. They don't believe it is ethically right and feel because it is different it is wrong. The same sex marriage concept is growing increasingly strong with the lobbying of individuals who feel their rights are being breached by the denial of seeing their marriage as legal. This issue is very difficult to dissect because of what has been the norm for many thousand of years. Men marry women and women marry men. There is only one way people know of the issue. When you bring same sex marriages into the mix you leave open the potential for same sex couples to apply for benefits at work and to be viewed on taxes as a couple. In order to see the light at the end of the tunnel you have to view the whole picture and dissolve away the bias. .
The scriptures go back to the story of Sodom and Gomorrah where two angles appearing as ordinary men visit the city of Sodom because they have heard of the city's wickedness. That night the men of Sodom arrive at Lot's house and demand that the visitors be brought outside so that the men can sexually abuse them. The angles throw the men back away from the door and tell Lot and his family to leave the city. The angles destroy the town by fire and brimstone. This is the largest example of the condiments of homosexuality in the bible. The moral condemnation of homosexual activity continues, but the celibate homosexual is welcomed into the church. The Roman Catholic Church endorses this position regarding homosexuality.
In 1986 the Declaration on Certain Question s concerning Sexual Ethics stated that a sexual union between two people is only legitimate if a definitive community of life has been established between the man and the woman, not same sex couples.
