Humanity Lost

Such atrocities are hard to ignore, and seem so crazy that nothing was done to stop the acts of them. There are many methods governments may try to make their people think one way or another. Starting from childhood, kids are brainwashed through schools, textbooks, teachers, and even their parents. Even adults wont notice the reality of atrocities because most happen over time. For instance, with Hitler and the Jews, the first step was wearing a sign on ones coat. To the citizens this didn't seem like a big deal because their particular mindset was to make others feel inferior, and that they were a higher person. Slowly, as time passed, more steps were taken action upon the Jews, but again, nothing was done about it. In the people's mindset they were thinking, "Oh, well it's just a ghetto, not a big deal." Little did they know what was about to happen to them after they left the ghettos.
A second thing is that most people just follow blindly without question of anything. Either they are too scared to stand up for what they believe is wrong, or most the time they don't even know the truth behind it. They only are thinking of themselves and their own family. Believing, "Well it doesn't involve me, so I"ll just stay out of it." Others follow military obedience, staying proud to their commanding officers.
Looking back on these atrocities, we can learn many lessons through the horrid mistakes made. For starters, no one should ever hold complete and total power. As the quote states: Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Again, Hitler is a perfect example of carrying this through. No one stopped him from getting complete power and once he obtained it, it took over him. He became so wrapped around power that he didn't want to let go and abused it as a weapon. .
