I say so because films provide us a window to observe, think and understand the nature views, societies and people's life and emotions of various countries. Although I am not a film fan, I like to see films very much. Since they can give me a lot without going there in person.
Through a film from a country, I can learn their nature, history, customs, society, and all aspects of life . Usually with the background of some special environments, such as a urban city or a farm ,I can learn the method of life of those people; Also, with a background of a war, a influential historical event , I can acquire a lot of knowledge of their history. For example, I watched a very famous American movie named Gong With The Wind. It's a beautiful love story that shocks me very much. But apart from the impressive plot, I paid attention to the background-- it happened in the period of Civil War. Though I have studied some history from the America Civil War, I've never been so close to the real experience and emotion from the people who ever experienced that. The happiness, the glory of south and the following sadness ,angry and disappointment as the collapse of the southern world really make me touched and impressive. I think the film is as excellent as the original novel.
Furthermore, we can learn the different styles of films from various countries, which reflects that nation's value of life, the moral and culture. For example, usually American movies involve a heroic story and high technology related.,such as the film The Spider Man. This is a Sci-fi movies full of imagination and heroism, from which I learn that American people admire hero very much and are very interested in Science. They like a kind of personality . But in Chinese movies, you seldom see that kind of scene and plot. Chinese prefer to express themselves in a implicit way and they often embody heroism in a group rather than an individual.
