US Government

The Government of United States is very clear on its policy of its citizens freely permitted to carry guns. This is enshrined in the United States Constitution. "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed" This is Amendment 2 in the Bill of Rights of the constitution and this Amendment was adopted in 1791. Since then there has been many discussions on this subject, but the constitutional position has not changed. It is not true that no constitutional amendments have been passed. A total of 27 amendments have been passed, the latest amendment was in 1992 and dealt with the emoluments of the representatives. The Government in its wisdom has not further amended the gun policy. .
             The Real Situation: .
For this purpose we shall study two reports from two parts of the country - Washington and San Francisco. The Washington Report says that the present gun control system may be helping the terrorists. The report said "The report found that government agents who conduct background checks on prospective gun buyers do not look at international terrorist watch lists routinely used at border crossings and airports. In addition, federal law allows foreign visitors to the United States to purchase firearms after they have resided in the United States for 90 days, and makes it possible for terrorists to stockpile "long guns" and explosives without triggering any notification to law enforcement, according to the study, requested by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.)." This report says clearly that this study was conducted under the request of a US Senator, and hence can be assumed to be true and not simply anti-gun lobby propaganda. (Herel, San Francisco Chronicle, May 8, 2003).
The San Francisco report is about gun injuries. The jury blamed the accident totally on the gun maker and it was said by the spokesperson for the trial lawyers for Public Justice "The flaw was that in order to render the gun safe and unloaded; you had to disengage the only safety on the gun and put it in a dangerous condition.
