My favourit film is CAST AWAY, the story about survival of a human being and human spirit directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker ROBERT ZEMECKIS. The main role plays great actor two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks.
Hanks stars as Chuck Noland, a FedEx systems engineer whose personal and professional life are ruled by the clock. After a plane crash, he becomes isolated on a desolates island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. He first must learn how to meet the basic needs of survival, including water, food and fire. He only has pocket watch with his girl-friend photo inside and few FedEx boxes which probably will never be received by addressees. Using his intelligence , he turns ice-skate blades into knives, videotape into rope, dress material into a fishing net and also after many trials he builds a fire. With his own blood he draw a face on volleyball and in this way he get only companion named Wilson. But what is more important is his transformation from selfish workaholic to mature man.
After four years on the island he decided to escape to civilization, to his girl-friend Helen and all the things which he left in America. After long and difficult travel on the raft, he misses his best friend, Wilson, but finally is rescued.
He come back home, but there nothing is still the same Helen got married with his dentist, he just can't find himself in new surroundings. Although that, Chuck realizes that four lonely years on the island was the best thing in his life, because if he hadn't gone through that experience he would never understand what is really important in his life.
This story played in fact by one actor is really beautiful, touching and emotive. This is kind of film which you never forget, because it gives you many ideas, advices and direction what is really important and needed in human life.
