Gun Control

Gun Control has been an issue that has been debated on many times over the years. There are many different stances that people hold on this controversial issue. It is a big part of both Republican and Democratic Campaigns. Gun Control is a hard-pressed issue that may never be solved, unless we start to actually do something about it.
Republicans are the party that tends to lead toward the owning of guns. They believe that you should have the right to own a gun. They support law-abiding Americans constitutional right to own a gun and protect their family( Gun Control 3). Although, they believe in this they still think that there should be restrictions on certain types of guns as well as penalties.
Republicans support instant background checks at gun shows by allowing gun show promoters to access the instant check system on behalf of the vendors(Lewis 88). They support banning juveniles from possession of semi- automatic assault weapons. Republicans also want to ban the importation of foreign made, "high capacity" ammunition clips. They are also pushing for automatic detention for kids who commit crimes with guns(Gun Control 12).
Republican Governor George Bush supports voluntary efforts to equip all handguns with child safety locks. If this would be passed by congress the Governor would sign it. The set back to this however, is that adults would still have to be responsible for using the trigger locks.
Republicans are in opposition to government mandated registration of all guns owned by law abiding citizens( Gun Control 13). Republicans would also like to see stronger enforcement of existing gun laws and would provide more funding for aggressive gun law enforcement programs. These are all of the views that the Republicans have on guns.
The Democratic Party would like to see guns out of the hands of criminals and children. They are more in favor of gun laws restricting the ownership and sale of certain guns.
