Slavery

Then, as quickly as they came, the militia would leave behind blood drenched bodies in the streets as they rode off with their new additions to slavery. .
Slaves were never treated as equals. Although today's slaves are somewhat inexpensive, they can get proper food and medical care, but some decide to not waste things like that on a slave. They work with no pay and are constantly threatened. Most of the time, those threats are carried out by beating, torturing, thrashing, caning, and even raping their slaves. Their lives consist of nothing more than hard labor, neglect, and daily beatings. Slaves" hands were usually the price paid when something was done wrong. There are certain chemicals used in fireworks so when children make them, their hands are being eaten away by the chemicals and blisters appear and the children cannot work. Instead of waiting for the blisters to heal, the slave masters use cigarettes or hot coals to pop the blisters which left their hands nothing but scar tissue. In one incidence, a slave girl let her master's animals be eaten by wild beasts. As punishment, her hands were bound and she was hung from a post. She stayed like this for quite a few days and if she moved or screamed, she would be beaten. When she was at last cut down, her hands were distorted so that they were big and started to stink. Her hands will never heal. In another case, two boys were working for the same master. When they didn't clean their master's goat pens to his liking, one of the boy's fingers was chopped off. One of the two suffered from a worse fate than losing just one finger a day. When his companion became ill, he paid the price and all of the fingers on one of his hands were cut off.
Of course all slaves are beaten almost daily, but what about their feelings? Aren't they beaten too? Slavery can take away something from people that they may never gat back in their entire lives. Forever embedded in their minds will be the images of them as a slave.
