Not only does the reader discover who the character is, but so does the chararcter herself. Eva ends up getting herself engolfed into a trying relationship that makes her question her very being. She follows the lead of a man that she dearly loved and ended up a deviant individual. Initially a man named Danilo Silva won the heart of Eva Miranda and introduced her to a life of felonious activity. Convinced that their love was strong Eva stood by her man up until the point in which she could no longer subject herself to the anguish that was brought upon her.
Eva started out at a independent successful lawyer on her way to the top. After meeting Danilo she had no idea that her life was about to change. Their love was almost intanstanious and he felt compelled to share his past with her. Eva reluctantly followed her man and took part to insure that the money would be safe "Together, they studied offshore tax havens and found safe investments" (117 ch. 12). Eva transformed from being an successful independent woman to ultimatly being chained to an invisible leash held by the man that she once knew as Danilo, Patrick. .
Eva is held responsible to take care of all of the details in the event of Patrick getting caught. Patrick leaves her with the burden of all his affairs when he does get caught. She drops everything that she knows for this guy who could potentially end up being making her life worse. Patrick puts her into dangerous that she could never even have dreamed of. She could no longer be Eva, she had to become an utterly new person "She was Leah Pires now," (40 ch.4). There was no looking back now that she had become so deeply involved in the situation.
