The year 2003 is more than a genre it's more like a state of confusion. Some how the American youth has turned it's back on reality with lights and pretty faces. This glossy pop culture is amused by reality shows that increase the chances of starving actors to starve even more. We watch movies with idiotic pop idols that have no true meaning behind their music, why? Because they don't even write the songs they sing. Most have no lyrical technique, yet they sing to the masses. It is a pathetic fact that American youth has watched this cheesy pop luster form, grow, and continue to expand after major catastrophic events. The youth of this nation has watched their parents struggle because of economic distress. This does not stop them from asking for Air Force Ones, because a rapper decides this method of marketing might best fit his interest. As a nation we suffered great losses as the towers fell. The U.S. heard of the warfare in Afghanistan and we saw the blood shed in Iraq, but some how some way we ignored it. We went to the movies and saw romantic comedies and drank our lattes. We sat back and watched pop idols get old, have children, and return to the stage. New Kids On The Block missed out.
Twenty years from now, our children and grandchildren will ask how are stay was here in the year 2003. Personally, I can say I was very disappointed in our generation. It's like living in the 70's with disco flare and never looking back. When reality slapped us in the face we took it and slipped our hip huggers back on. The rebel in the U.S. has been fabricated and sold. The things that use to shock and awe American society has been dealt with and accepted. Punk rockers and Gangster rappers have sold out their insurgent art form for poppy commercialism. The damage is done. .
