These criminals even get three square meals a day, while many law abiding citizens can't afford to eat at all. What value is there in educating these criminals when they are not willing to accept responsibility for their actions? Sounds like the government is spending our tax dollars wisely, doesn't it! Anyone who takes an individual's life without any remorse does not deserve to live in a luxurious penitentiary or anywhere else for that matter; they deserve nothing less than the death penalty!.
The cost of keeping such criminals incarcerated stretches well beyond any monetary amount. Repeat offenders are not out of the ordinary. The cost to society, when a killer is allowed to kill again, is tremendous. Innocent families are devastated in a single moment, all because our judicial system does not have a back bone. If we would have executed the individual in the beginning, there would be no chance for that criminal to re-offend. Canada needs to seriously consider implementing Capital Punishment to help deter criminals and save lives, and not destroy any more families.
I"m not saying we need to execute every convicted criminal that is behind bars today, but there should be more serious consequences for criminals that commit these heinous crimes. They should be sentenced to death. Of course there are the critics, and the bleeding heart individuals that see the death penalty as being nothing less than inhumane. The way I see it, neither does locking up that same criminal. Wouldn't Capital Punishment eliminate the pain and suffering for such a worthless case anyway? Sure being sentenced to death for a crime you did not commit would be nothing less that a tragedy, but that decision must be left with the courts. With the development of new technologies such as DNA testing, determining an individual's guilt has never been more definite. With the help of technology, the possibilities of convicting and ultimately executing the guilty are more certain.
