Moulin rouge

On November 4, 2003 I had the opportunity to view the film called Moulin Rouge. This extraordinary film was directed by Baz Luhrmann and written by Lurhmann and Craig Pearce. Through the characters and the plot setup, one is able to learn that "the greatest thing you"ll ever learn is to love and to be loved in return." .
The protagonists of this film are Christian and Satine, both of whom fall in love with each other for the first time. The antagonist is "the Duke." He's the jealous type of guy and he wants to kill Christian at the end of the play because he too, was in love with Satine. One of the minor characters is Toulouse. He's one of the pimps for the Moulin rouge, and enjoys the company of many women around him; however, he does respect women and longs for love. Harold Zidler, the main pimp, sells Satine and others girls as well for money, but he cares for Satine the most, as if she was his own daughter. .
The play took place in the 1900's in Paris, France. A man named Christian, who's a penniless writer, comes to Paris in 1899 from England to find a better life away from his father. While in his apartment, some actors plummeted from the ceiling into his apartment. Disturbed by the noise he visits the apartment above to discover a play rehearsal. Later on Christian is assigned to write a play for them called "Spectacular, Spectacular." Soon after Christian and his new friends came to a play later that night, he then saw Satine. He met Satine through the help of his friends, not knowing she was waiting for the Duke (a very wealthy investor) for sexual pleasure for which she is a contesean. Satine tried to have sex with Christian thinking he was the Duke. Giving up on her tries, Christian convinced her to be in his play. Within seconds, the real "Duke" comes in and he wants to meet with Satine, while Christian hides in the room, she finally manages to get the real "Duke out of her room" so she and Christian can talk more about the play.
