The "Moulin Rouge" was an extremely odd movie. Its mix of music, drama, and emotions were very amusing. At first, the movie didn't seem to make much sense, you have to admit, and a flying fairy is kind of out of it. But then, as it progressed, through all the sadness, happiness, and the very dominant kinkiness, it all added up, and earned itself a good rating. Dancing and singing took up most of the movie. They were all moving around, and singing like crazy. However, if you think about it, it could probably pass for a sad formula film. Farfetched but possible. Christian liked Satine, and the Duke liked her too. Even through all the hardships, all the problems they encountered, their love for each other never went away, until she died. .
A musical is theatrical play which consists of acting, singing and even dancing. This movie completely fulfilled the whole musical thing. They had a lot of singing, and they had a nice story behind it too. It did not at all deviate from the "theme" because from the start to the end, it even had the curtain thing opening and closing. They also easily incorporated the whole pop culture. They used popular songs from way back, up to recent ones, so they catered to a whole lot of different audiences. From Madonna, to the Beatles, the Police, and even Label. Some of the songs were remade, so the hits they used were popular even among the kids. The way they put in Kylie Minogue, was a good one too. Knowing how popular she has been, throughout, the fact that even my parents knew of her since before, made her an important part of the pop culture. Since a very big age bracket knows of her, she was a hit, even if she was a fairy, prancing around the blue skies. The movies are getting better with the way they trick people into being interested. Their use of such showed how their ideas evolved, and how good it worked.
Offhand, I"d say this was a good movie. It kept me interested throughout and I actually understood it too.
