King Tut

Almost everyone has heard of King Tutankhamen's undisturbed tomb, but what many don't know is how unusual his tomb really is. Unusual because it was so rushed to be completed. People have wondered and explored possibilities of why his tomb was so rushed. While many accept that his death was sudden, some believe that he may even have been murdered. .
In 1922 Howard Carter discovered King Tut's tomb. Carter noticed many unusual things about the tomb which suggested that it was hastily finished. First of all, ion some of the objects surrounding King Tut, other names had been scratched out and his had been scratched in. Second of all, there were sloppy paint splashes which could and should have been cleaned before the tomb was sealed. Third of all, King Tut's corpse was sloppily embalmed. An ointment that was used for embalming had been poured over the mummy. The sloppy paint job and embalming job suggest that the tomb was in a hurry to be sealed. .
This made Carter wonder why the tomb had been rushed. Maybe, it was rushed to keep thieves out. As this was the only tomb not to be ransacked then the rushed finishing was successful. However why weren't any of the other tombs rushed to the same extent like this one? Well it could also have been rushed because of the unexpected death of King Tutankhamen. He died shortly after his 18th birthday, so the completion of his tomb may have been hastened to be able to suit his sudden death. Others believe that it was rushed to cover up foul play in the death of Tut. .
To explore why the tomb was so rushed, Carter performed an autopsy of Tut's corpse in 1925. Unfortunately, the embalming liquid that had been poured over the mummy had glued it to the coffin. In order to examine it, the body had to be removed limb by limb from the coffin. In the autopsy, Carter found nothing suspicious to suggest that Tut did not die of natural causes. But in 1968 there was an x-ray done of King Tut's corpse.
