The Story of Jacob

God promised Isaac and Rebekah that their family would become a great nation - more than all the stars in the sky. The family begins to grow when Rebekah finds out that she is pregnant with twin boys. While they are still inside of her, the boys start to fight constantly. They were fighting over who would be the first born child. As the first born, he would get a bigger part of his father's wealth.
The first child was born. He had red skin and was very hairy all over his body. Rebekah and Isaac decided to name him Esau, which means " red." When the second child was born, he was holding onto Esau's heel. They named the second child Jacob. Esau liked to hunt, and he was his Dad's favorite. Jacob liked to cook and he was a "Momma's boy." Esau was the first born, so he got the birthright. Everyone was always telling Jacob this. .
As Esau and Jacob grew up, Jacob decided he wasn't going to settle for second best. He had a plan to get the birthright from his brother Esau. Esau and Jacob grew up. One day Esau was out in the field all day and was very hungry and tired. He asked Jacob for some of the red stew that he was cooking. Jacob told him that the only way that he could have some of his stew would be to sell him his birthright. Esau was so hungry and tired that he didn't care about the birthright. So he agreed. Esau ate his red stew and Jacob got the birthright. .
Isaac was very old and nearly blind. Isaac wanted Esau to go out and bring him back some food that he had hunted. He said that he would then give him a special blessing. Rebekah helped Jacob trick Isaac into believing that he was Esau. She told jacob to go out and get some food that he could cook quickly for his father. She put Esau's clothing on Jacob and put fur on his arms to make him feel more like Esau. He brought everything to his father and told him that he was Esau. Isaac believed Jacob and gave him the special blessing intended for Esau.
