When one thinks of work what thoughts come to mind? It could be a sense of self worth, a place to acquire funds or an environment to develop professionally and to mature personally. For me, it is all of the above.
When one heads to work and completes their work shift there is a sense of relief. It is therefore safe to say, completing ones work shift completes their day. True for the most part, majority of the time I finish my shift I don't celebrate it; however, when I am told that I will only be working only four days next week instead of my usual five, when the day comes when I am supposed to be at work and I am at home, I feel empty. Work completes me as a person. I feel a great sense of self worth when I finish my shift and I collect my tips. .
One must work for there money if they want there money to work for them. When on vacation, I always mention in a toast to my friends or family "This is why we work", so I can lay here on a beach or snowboard down a mountain. I am putting my money to work. Most of us have to work for a living. Rent costs money, food costs money, the new shirt you want to buy costs money. The only way to purchase these things is to work.
When I first started working full time at my current employer "Fluid Lounge" it was about money. Though money continues to be my primary reason for working, there are other reasons as well. Fluid Lounge has been a place where I have developed professionally and matured as a person. After my third year with the company, it dawned on me that I had reached my peak, financially speaking, and needed to work towards another way of acquiring more funds. By this time I had obtained a great working knowledge of the night club industry and was ready to apply it. I along with one partner, opened up a small club on Collage St and named it "Flirt Lounge". After four successful months, I decided to sell my portion of the ownership.
