ACT/SAT Scores Say Nothing

High school students nationwide are expected to take the much hated ACT or SAT. The ACT and SAT are supposed to rate students' knowledge but they fail miserably. It is impossible to go through 12 years of school in 3 hours. A solid GPA says a lot more than one test. Therefore, something must be done to change this unjust testing system because it proves nothing about an individual. .
The ACT and SAT have caused many headaches through the years, and for a useless purpose. There are millions of fully qualified individuals left out of their primary college choice every year because they failed to meet their required ACT or SAT score. It is not fair to judge twelve years of education on one test. During the course of a students 12 or 13 year career in school they pick up thousands of pieces of information. The idea of taking a test on all of those skills is ridiculous. A high school students years are tough enough, why go through taking a pointless test that says nothing about a students integrity or maturity. The sad thing is, colleges look at a student's transcript and see a 3.8 GPA. That's four years of hard work. They take a look at his/her low ACT or SAT score and reject them. Four years versus 3 hours. This is not right, something must be done. .
Abandoning the test would be the easiest way to solve this problem in our education system. The problem with taking a standardized test, is not knowing exactly what to study for. More students than not would rather have at least an idea of what to expect. Perhaps the ACT and SAT should break itself up into individual classes and be given as an exit exam for each class. This would make the subjects less broad and would allow students to show what they know about an individual subject. Math is one of the subjects on the ACT and SAT. But there are all kinds of math classes. Humans aren't perfect, minds forget information and there's nothing that can change that.
