Harris and Me

I read the book called "Harris and Me" written by Gary Paulsen. It is about a boy who has to come to stay on a farm with his relatives. He meets a cousin name Harris and experiences a lot of adventures and troubles. The main idea of the book is that farm life might be difficult but it is never lonely with exciting adventures. This book gives an old fashioned excitement and beauty of human nature.
The "me" guy has to go to his relatives because his parents were alcoholics. Deputy drives him to relative's house. When he arrived relatives all welcomed him. However Harris was not so nice and asked him if his parents were puke drunks. Later that night they started talking about shoving a start up the frogs butt and blowing it. It will make the frog like a balloon so it floats in the water instead of diving. As they talked about many things, they started getting closer. .
After breakfast, Harris and he went to darkened barn. Harris just took off to somewhere and he was left alone. He was just walking in the barn and Boom! The pig called Vivian kicked him with her back leg. They went to farm and caught some mice which they sold to Louie for 2mice for 10cents. Louie is a worker there. Everyday he was happy with Harris although they went through lots of troubles. They were wrestling slippery pigs to daredevil jumping out of a barn loft and swimming and cowboy movies. There were also enough good foods to fill up the boys. .
As he gets closer to Harris and used to the farm life, he realizes that he is not lonely like he was once. Also, he finds out that Harris and his relatives are there for him. .
Farm life is tough sometimes but he learns to live with joy and warm heart through them.
It is not because he is strong and tough but it is because there are people who care about each other always.
