Battleship Potemkin Review

First and foremost I would like to say that I enjoyed this movie more than what we saw of "A Birth of a Nation". This movie literally blew me away to the point of my jaw cracking on the ground. It was an amazing experience to watch a movie of that quality made in 1920!!!.
What I loved most about the movie was the close-ups. My absolute favorite though was the close-up of the maggots on the meat. It was absolutely disgusting!!! But that's exactly what I wanted to see because it gave me a reaction; it made me cringe. I also don't think that was done before at all. It just had to be a product of Russia.
Another part that I absolutely loved was the chase scene when everybody was running down the steps from the soldiers. I don't know why but it is still implanted in my memory and just won't let go. That part actually made me think about making movies. I am actually speechless as to why that part had such a huge impact on me so I am just going to skip it all. .
One part that bothered me was when one of the commanding officers were telling the sailors to eat the meat and that it was fine. I thought that the officer was way to skinny and that they should have used a big and mean looking Russian, which is not really hard to find. May be the director wanted the officer to be scrawny in order to show how he really is on the inside, or may be short mans complex. Who knows?.
I cannot write this paper without mentioning the music. It was beautiful. It flowed seamlessly with the movie and I know why it was praised by so many. The music is one of the main reasons why I was so into the film.
Once again I give this movie a 5/5 for being so damn remarkable.
