The Corruption of Christianity

A religion, as defined by anthropologists, is a spiritual belief shared by a group of people. Christianity over time has become more and more corrupt. Once what was a religion that millions died for and believed has now somewhat turned itself into a business. I read "The Christian Church" an essay about the slow downfall of Christianity.
The Corruption of Christianity essay was very good. It had a lot of good points. Its main point through its entirety was that religion has become a business. One point is that Today, churches ask that their members pay a tithe, a penny collection, an love offering, and sometimes an collection to pay the minister on his anniversary. This is so true, at my grandmother's church they send three offerings. The next point the story made was the ridiculous argument over the color of Jesus Christ. The bible says Jesus had hair of wool, his skin was like burned brass, his eyes were red, and his voice was like the roar of an ocean. To some people, this sounds like the descriptions of a black man, but whatever Jesus" color turns out to be we should love him for who he is and what he did. Would you like him more or less if he were black or some other color? The color of his skin is a stupid debate that has no since even being brought up. On the authors next point, he brought up how some preachers use aggression and a lot of excitement in their sermons and people really don't get a message. When this happens, people get real excited, but can't hear any of the message because they"re to busy paying attention to all of the preacher's animation. I have been to a lot of churches where the pastor tells the beginning of a message of a sermon then begins to start shouting and screaming and no message follows after that.
I like this essay because of the author's points. It seemed as if it was all my thoughts were stolen from another writer and put in this essay. All of the things that he brought up in the essay were points that I had previously noticed about the Christian religion.
