The Movie Spartacus

            In December we watched a movie called Spartacus. This was a movie about a Roman slave forced into a life obedience and hatred. Spartacus was taken to a Gladiator school to become a slave. There he learned all the things that would make him become a great gladiator. .
             The Roman life was really different from our lives today. The first thing is that we don't have people fighting to the death because that is breaking the law. In Rome they made the slaves join the gladiators because they knew they would die sooner or later.
             Spartacus was a man that hated to be a slave and gladiator he justs wanted to be free and go on his own. In this movie Spartacus plays a man that is very passionate about a woman named Varenia and a very serious, smart, strong and stubborn person. Spartacus was a man that would never do anything that the guards or slave masters said. One time at the beginning of the movie Spartacus even bit one of the guards.
             In the movie the only thing that Spartacus wanted was to be free. He wanted to live his own life and have family. In the movie Varenia was a symbol of Love. She was soon to be Spartacus" wife and the mother of his baby boy. .
             Crassus was the leader of the Roman Army. He was afraid of Spartacus because he was afraid that Spartacus would kill him and be an even more powerful leader of the slave revolt. To Crassus ,Spartacus meant a man with confidence and great power. That is also another reason why Crassus was afraid of Spartacus. .
             Also during the movie there was a time when Crassus asked who is Spartacus. After this statement a lot of men stood up saying I"m Spartacus because they would not betray their leader. .
             Batiatus was the owner of the gladiator school. He made a big change during this movie. At the beginning he was very puffed up and elegant. At the end he was very humble and willing. .
             Julius Caesar was a man of the Senate. Julius Caesar betrayed Dracus because he was the enemy of Crassus and Crassus gave the Roman army to Caesar.
