Virtual Reality in Surgery

Another reason for the popularity of endoscopy is that it is relatively easy to simulate endoscopic surgery. Almost all companies produce programs for this type of surgery. Virtual reality is allowing surgeons to explore areas where endoscopic surgery will be performed in a much friendlier environment. They are able to see how the surgery will look when the instruments have been placed inside the body, as well as see structure from the viewpoint they will get from the endoscopic camera. In Radiosurgery VR is primarily mostly used for Pre-Operative planning. .
             The needs of the doctors have already been assessed by the programmers that design these pieces of software and they have summarised what it is that is required by the surgeons. They require devices that are capable of providing them with training that is accurate and safe. For e.g. using robotic instruments to remove hand tremors, while they use the computer systems VR as they would play a game. It's very simple and easy to use. As mentioned before they can also use it to just practice and touch up on their skills. The participants are the doctors, surgeons etc that perform the different surgical tasks. They use the combined software and hardware and use the applications as they would play a game and manipulate it and can either use it in a simulational mode in which it is just a just an example or literally perform surgery using VR. The Data and Information circulating through the system includes the hand actions and the surgical procedures conducted by the surgeons that perform the surgery. And the result is the output which is the robotic instruments performing the Surgery on the patient. Or in the second case where it can simply be a practice simulation where it is possible for you to cross reference for any mistakes or errors performed. The Information Technology used in this information system of Virtual Reality includes the Computer systems that the surgeon will be using to conduct the surgery through simulation, and the Robotic instruments that will physically perform the surgery.
