The character I chose to write about is Guy Montag. My first impression of Montag was that he was an honest hardworking person. Montag was an important character in this novel.
Guy lives with his wife, Millie, in a futuristic city in the 24th century. He is 30 years old and has been a fireman for 10 years. In this futuristic story, firemen, instead of putting out fires, they burn books which are now illegal. Books are illegal because the government believes that all people should have the same intelligence level, therefore anyone with any book is subject to their house being burned down. On his way home from work one day, Montag meets a 16 year old girl named Clarisse. Clarisse plays a big part in Montag's realization of his life later in the book. He walks with Clarisse, his new neighbor, to their houses and she talks about different things that make Montag think. She talks about things Montag is not familiar with but interest him. When they reach their own houses, Clarisse asks Montag, "Are you happy?" He starts to think whether he is really happy with his life. He thinks that he is happy now but later in the novel you will find out that he is not so happy after all. Montag and Clarisse like each other and become friends.
When Montag reaches his house, he enters to find his wife sprawled out on their bed with a pill bottle in her hand. Mille had overdosed on sleeping pills, and Montag calls the medics. They came and drained her stomach. They say she will be fine but will wake up hungry. Montag and his wife's relationship is not very good. They always argue and dislike each other very much. Millie either watches her TV's which she calls .
her "family" or threatens to add a fourth wall to the already three walls of televisions. .

Millie thinks of Montag as a bad husband and just uses him for his money. .
The next day at work, there is an alarm which means someone has been found with books in their possession.
