High Divorce Rate in U.S.

This is the oath you take upon marriage but yet the divorce rate in the U. This terrible and unfortunate tragedy continues to rise. In my opinion three major things leading to divorce are money problems, alcoholism, and the fact that this is a recurring problem because of the society we live in. .
One of the main reasons for divorce is argument over money or the inability to maintain financial stability. With the growing number of places legalizing casinos and the ease of internet gambling, many people are becoming addicted. People are losing large amounts of money, even their homes and entire life savings causing their marriage to end. Some people cannot control spending habits, continuously charging or abusing their credit until they ruin their partners credit as well as their own. Some people may overspend thinking they need to buy most expensive items possible, causing many arguments and financial stress that continue to put a strain on the relationship.
Another huge reason for divorce is alcoholism. Alcoholism is a unique character because it usually brings on numerous other problems. Some people get drunk and abuse their spouse and even their children. Most alcoholics do not realize that they put alcohol above more important things in their life. They often destroy a relationship because they are always out drinking instead of at home providing for their family. Not to mention the consequences of things they do while they are drunk, like being unfaithful. Alcoholism may also be the cause of some of the financial problems. An alcoholic will not care about how much money is spent on booze and probably will not be able to keep a job, significantly increasing the problem. As you can see alcoholism is not only about the drinking.
In my opinion, the largest cause for divorce today is because of the society we live in and the recurring process. So many children are growing up in single parent or divorced homes that they lack cohesiveness of family and the strong values that are instilled with family life.
