Roses can be compared to special education in several ways. Learning how to teach special education students is just as hard at learning how to grow roses and may take years to figure it all out They both need the right environment to grow. The special education children and roses demand a lot of dedication and attention but the rewards are tremendous.
Learning how to grow roses is a long and questioning time in a person's life. You have a vision of what you want the rose bush to be like but it isn't easy to get it there. The only problem is that it takes a lot of dedication, research, and time to see the results you are looking for. Special education is very similar when you think about it. Special education teachers have to learn and research the best way to teach special education students. The teacher knows where the education level should be but it also takes a lot of dedication, research, and time to be able to get a child to the right educational level.
Environment plays a big role in the special education student's educational growth and roses growth. They each need the optimal environment to grow. If a special education student is not placed in a positive environment or getting the needed extra attention, the student's educational growth will slow down, stop, or possibly even regress. A rose is the same way. A rose needs the proper water drainage, sunlight, and food to produce the desired blooms or it will stop growing, grow slowly or even die. .
The rewards of watching a special education student bloom and the rose bloom does not compare though. The rose blooms are beautiful and fragrant and do bring happiness, but to see the special education student's bloom is a powerful emotional experience that never falls off or leaves you. Every time you see or think about that special person, you remember, and the feeling is there again.
