Married With Children

with Children" is about a chaotic white trash family, the Bundys. This sitcom involves two very unbalanced married partners and their children. They live disharmoniously in Chicago. Married with Children features a role reversal between the typical image of a husband and wife. In most cases the man of the family is the lazy one that never does any thing, but in "Married with Children" the wife is bone-lazy and spiteful. Al has a miserable and badly paying work. But they will always stay together, or as Al, the father of the family, says, "Love, hate, look, we're a family, what's the difference?" (Al with Kelly). .
The plot of this sitcom is a parody on US family sitcoms of the mid-eighties, and so the working title of the show was "Not The Cosbys." Main issues in Married. with Children are sex, failures, indifference, parasitism and falseness. But the characters' lives go on, or as Al says, "Bundys are losers, not quitters." (Kelly Doesn't Live Here Anymore). Its characters are usually politically incorrect, and some of them are more or less dumb. During its 10 production years, the show changed a lot, but the Bundy family always stays together. Peg and Al have been together, for better or worse, for more than two decades. How they survive their relationship is the basis for "Married. With Children." The sitcom represents a distinct departure from the saccharine-sweet television families viewers have known since the days of "Father Knows Best." With unflinching honesty, "Married. With Children" paints a painfully funny picture of a not-so-typical middle-class American family.
The show is centered around Al Bundy, a middle class shoe salesman. He is married to Peggy, and they have two children: Bud and Kelly. Peggy is somewhat of a housewife, she has no job, but doesn't do much house work either. About all Peggy and the kids" do is blame their miserable life to Al. Therefore Peggy asks Bud & Kelly to thank their father in an ironic way if something bad happens, and they go "thanks Dad".
