Small Town Life

You see I had what they called ADD, Attention Deficite Disorder, basically, I learned slower than the other kids, and I recall one time my mom telling me that the kindergarten teacher Mrs. Lewis, said that she watched me at school, and saw me and it appeared that I was busy, but in reality I was in my own little world, dreaming of trains, and baseball, and ninja turtles.Well see come to find out, she looked and my work book and I hadn't done any work at all. Funny thing this is where the independence issue came into play. You see I didn't like anyone telling me what to do, I figured what the hell they weren't my parents, so why should I listen to them. Well I learned that all this hard work in school was going to pay off in the end, but still I didn't like it. Well moving on in my life, I learned one thing, when you work you do an hours work for an hours pay, except when your working for Charles Love, or Doc Love as everyone else knew him, or I knew him as Grand-Pa, or Ga .looooooong story. But seriously the one lesson I did learn was the good ole fashioned "Yes Sir, No Sir" lesson. Small town lesson that everyone eventually learns. But back to the business of business, farming, well it's a small rural community and you couldn't ask for anything more, flat dry green and yellow land everywhere, small farms and ranches spread out mixing in with the horizion. I worked on the weekends with my grandfather, feeding, running, and tending to cattle was the thing that I loved the most, just seeing those animals well just brought some kind of joy in working out there. My jobs included opening gates, filling buckets, feeding the cattle, and the most important job of all "keeping my seat".
Well ADD kicked in here as well, as I got curious as to what was in the pile of grain in my grandfather's barn, or what was making the noises behind the barn, well I soon learned that when you are assigned a job, you do your job, no questions asked.
