Motor learning

The experiment we did in class was Motor Learning. The purpose of this experiment was to measure how motor learning occurs over time? There are different methods of learning a certain skill and able to master it. In this experiment, it confuses your mind where you have to think the opposite. Usually, when you move the mouse up the cursor on the screen would move up. Generally, the mouse would move the same direction as the cursor. Suppose, if you move the mouse up and the cursor moves down the screen. This would create confusion in the brain where you have to practice this new skill. The independent variable in this lab was the condition that was the control and the experimental. The dependent variable was the time of target.
There are a few strengths and weaknesses in this experiment. The strength is helps you how to think better in a different way. This experiment plays with your mind. You may think your moving cursor up but the person is really moving it down. The more trials you practice this experiment the better he/she will get. The weakness could be the percent error in this experiment. The data we got may not be accurate. One error could be that the mouse was not comfortable to let the person move it up and down smoothly. Another is that the computer does not let you know when you to start. This could cause the delay in time. The last weakness is that the mouse pad may not be large enough for you to move the mouse. If you"re looking at the screen while you"re moving mouse, your mouse may move off the pad that can cause a distraction.
This experiment can be applied to clinical and scientific problems. Doctors may conduct experiments to see if there is any damage in their brain. If the patient has problems with their actions then Doctors would examine the patient's right brain. If a patient can't organize their actions, then they would have Apraxia where the damage would be in front of the brain.
