When Things Fall Apart

The book When Things Fall Apart was a terrific book written by Achebe. This book was based on Imperialism in West Africa. Achebe played a terrific role of performing the pre-colonial culture of the Ibo. The author did a tremendous job of focusing on one individual and still showing the elaborateness of the clan's belief and self-governing tactics. Some areas in the novel were really fascinating and pedagogical by showing they were civilized people due to their social organization, their economic system and their religious beliefs. .
Ibo had a very structured social order. Everything from the way one acquires rank in the village to the way people greet their guest leads me to believe this. The use of commission in the village determines assertion demonstrates that they had a bureaucracy in sorts in place, much like we had judges, mayors, senators and a president. By way of illustration, the egwugwu acted as judges by caviling sentences based on disputes between people. Their use of rank seemed to arrange a sort of system of administration. Along the same lines, the ways they behave demonstrate that they were civil people. They appear to attempt to settle peace, if at all possible.
Achebe pointed out, they believe that a " war of blame" was an unjust thing. Also the way they interacted with each other lead me to believe that they were not the "savages" the English had thought. The respect the people had been mutual because they shared kola nuts and palm wine among each other. As of the families and the clan they had a very great kinship and deep feelings amongst themselves. .
Ultimately, Achebe did a dexterous job getting his point across. To take something from the book the title the District Commissioner was planning to use for his book, The pacification of the Primitive Tribes of Lower Niger could not have been further from the truth. The Ibo were a primitive people at all. They were just miscellaneous.
