Talent does not depend on gender. As a conclusion Plato is right to think that women and men should do the same things under these circumstances. And he concludes that " therefore men and women are by nature the same with respect to guarding the city, except to the extent that one is weaker and the other is stronger- (p.130,456b). .
One may object to the idea that women and men are not equal enough in the crafts that needs physical strongness. Even if a woman is trained like a man, she will not be stronger than a man or be equal to a man. However it must be considered in mind that there is no such craft that only requires physical strongness because talent is always needed and if a woman has the talent and a man does not, one cannot ignore her just because she is not strong enough.
In the book, Socrates claims that in order to have an ideal society, people should be divided into 3 classes which are gold, silver and irona and bronze according to their innate abilities and if everybody does his job, efficiency will be achieved. He states that " but the god who made you mixed some gold into those who are adequately equipped to rule, because they are most valuable. He put silver in those who are auxiliries and iron and bronze in the farmers and other craftsmen- (p.91,415b). However,in my opinion, he is wrong to think that people belong by nature to one of the 3 classes because it is not correct to classify people only according to their natural abilities and even if it is correct (let's assume that it is) it is impossible to understand if a person is talented for something or not from the birth unless you give them the chance to analyze themselves. To begin with, being naturally well suited for something does not mean that one will also naturally like to do it. Desires and dreams are not taken into consideration in Socrates' classification. There may be some people who will desire to do things that they are not good at in order to improve themselves and these people cannot be forgotten.
